What You Need to Know
As the European investment bank advises, "Just be yourself: don't try to play a role or follow a script that is not authentic. Let your true personality shine through. We are not looking for actors, but for genuine people who will thrive in our culture and who we would love to have as colleagues." So spend time thinking about the first impression you want to make. Contemplate the goals of your interviewer. They are looking for their ideal candidate, someone who would be a good fit for what they've built and take pride in being a stakeholder in carrying on their mission. So, be yourself, share why you feel you are the perfect fit for them, and how they are the perfect fit for you.

"My parents were both career professionals in finance and taught me the principles of financial responsibility early on. Yet, I was always an environmental activist ever since I was young, and I taught them the value of sustainability. As a professional, I feel strongly that both of these spheres are intermingled, and this is the direction I have taken my career. As you can see from my cover letter and resume, I bring a lot of experience, and my goal is to work with an organisation whose priorities, culture and values complement mine. Also, I felt the career growth available to me in my current role is more limited and would take my career in a direction that might lead to some stagnation and career dissatisfaction. So this, being a priority, has led me to follow a more sustainable career path, and that path has led me here."
