Pick a weakness that is not a core skill for this position. You want to attest to meeting the hard skills and qualifications of the job posting. Instead, choose a weakness that you've recognized as a growth opportunity -something you take ownership of and are already working on. Feel free to be candid in your answer. The more confidence you display, the more you'll be able to relay that you aren't likely to make a mistake more than once. You want to showcase that you are an asset, not a liability.

"I've been working on stepping outside of my comfort zone with less hesitation. The thing is, I am somewhat shy at times and have a fear of judgment and failure, so initially, I would rarely volunteer and prefer to be under the radar. But as time wore on, I realized that was no way to advance my career goals. So now I am bolder and make my accomplishments more well known."

"This is super cliche, but it's also true. I am not good at delegating to others. When I become submerged in a project, I don't like to give away any control. While this can be good, it can also definitely inhibit the project's outcome and my growth as a team player and individual. I am working on this, as I know it is a deficit."

I would have to say that I am a perfectionist, and sometimes that leads me to spend more time on tasks than necessary. I have found that setting timers and scheduling my time has helped me to stay on track, but also gives me time to circle back on the task at hand.

Fantastic approach! It's okay to have a weakness (we all do). The most important factor when answering this inquiry is to show the action steps you are taking to improve. Well said!
