There are several reasons that a massage therapist might refuse to work on a client. These should be valid reasons and not profiling a specific type of person. For example, a massage therapist might refuse to work on a client's feet if they have a fungal infection that can put the therapist at risk of becoming infected. They might refuse a client if the client has made sexual or suggestive remarks in the past or if the client is sick with a possibly contagious disease.

"I refuse to work on a client if they are sick. If they come in coughing and sneezing or have a fever, I would have to reschedule for when they feel better. I understand if someone does not know they are sick and I could become infected, but if it's obvious they are not feeling well, I want to prevent myself from becoming sick, too."
