When answering this question, substitute the word "rules" for standards. Standards are guidelines and can range from staffing levels to equipment requirements or the meeting room setup. Provide an example in which you broke a "rule" to provide better service for an event.

"I wouldn't say that I broke the rules, but I enhanced the standard for a detailed event. Our plated dinner standard is to staff one banquet server per 25 people. During a busy weekend, I added additional staff for a detailed event. I had one banquet server for every 15 people because the dinner had wine service and a total of five courses. Even though I utilized more staff on that event, I adjusted other events so that payroll was still in line. All events were serviced properly, and payroll was in line with the budget."
