If you work as an Activities Assistant in a nursing home or senior care facility, you will inevitably get to know the residents very well and become close to them. It is sad when they die, and it is natural for you to be upset. The interviewer wants to hear that you are compassionate but will not let their death interfere with your work. If you have first-hand experience with this, share your story with the interviewer.

"I have had this happen to me several times in my last job. I had become especially close with one of the residents named Beth, who said I reminded her of her granddaughter. One night, Beth passed away in her sleep. I was sad when I found out the next day when I showed up to work. Instead of doing that day's planned activity, we decided to have a 'story hour' where all the residents could share how Beth had touched their lives. There were some tears, but overall, I think it was very therapeutic for the residents and me to share memories of our friend."
