As an Activities Assistant, you may have to frequently encourage participation depending on the group you are leading, or you may rarely have to encourage participation. Describe a time when you had to promote participation among the guests and explain how you did it. The interviewer wants to hear that you have the motivational skills to get the group going.

"I recently had to encourage participation among guests when introducing karaoke. Not many of the guests had tried karaoke before, so they were hesitant to give it a try. It wasn't until I went first to show them how karaoke was done that the first guest gave it a try. I am not a great singer and had a lot of fun laughing at myself, so I think that broke the ice."
