Question 8 of 35

Accountability is taken very seriously in all that we do here at Stryker. How do you ensure that you are accountable for your word in following through on what you say you will do?

"Being accountable for my words and actions was a value my parents instilled in me from a young age and something I've been proud to carry with me through my education and career to this point. For the customers I work with, accountability comes in the form of my open and honest communications with them. I live by the philosophy of under-promise and over-deliver, where so many tend to overpromise and not be able to deliver. As part of this amazing team at Stryker, the customers I will be working with will always get the best details on products and pricing so they can make the best decisions possible. This will help build a foundation of trust and respect between us as we work together for years to come."

      How to Answer

In doing what they say and saying what they do in all aspects of their business, accountability is one of the four primary core values at Stryker. Why this is so important is because the medical solutions they provide in products like their spinal surgery navigation tools and medical hardware devices provide a safe and effective outcome for patients in the end. Your interviewer will want to ensure that you will help live this value each and every day on the job there, so they pose this question during your interview. This is the time to discuss the importance of your word in your work and why it will be so vital to the work you will be doing for Stryker. Be sure to think about the job duties you will be performing and the people you will be working with to successfully answer this question.

"In my current role, I am responsible for not only my position customers and my physician customers but the patients that we perform the procedure on. With such a large client base; extreme organization is key. I implement iCal calendar invites, and a daily 7 am call to coordinate all personnel in the territory. And through very open conversation, make adjustments as needed. I stay accountable by implementing and fulfilling timelines for actions. As long as I maintain this, my team falls in line. During both the day and the week, this list of action items changes with the needs of the territory."
