Interviewers will ask this question to determine if you are familiar with these resources and whether you use them in your game design efforts. Both Bitbucket and Github share software development resources and reduce the time it takes to create an application. However, these resources are more suited for software applications outside the video game market. The interviewer expects you to know this and respond appropriately regarding how applicable these services are in designing video games.

The best way to respond to this question is to first confirm your knowledge of these resources and how they are used. You can then comment about how applicable they are to video game design. You may want to conclude your answer by stating that you would not use these resources to design games and what alternatives are available.

"I rarely use Bitbucket or Github when developing a video game. Bitbucket is a code hosting service. It can temporarily store code for small size game development but cannot handle large files or frequently changing binary files. Github is a code-sharing service. Because of the proprietary nature of most video games, I would be reluctant to use files from Github due to the risk of replicating features from existing games or sharing proprietary code I've developed for the games I've designed."
