"At an organization I worked for five years ago, I had a co-worker who would gossip loudly with another co-worker every day in his cubicle next to mine. Their conversations distracted me and others from work and created a lot of stress as we attempted to focus. Since I felt this behavior contributed to negative work culture, I decided to address the issue, and I met privately with our team leader. I shared my concerns and asked if it would be possible for her to steer the two co-workers away from those discussions at the workplace. She agreed and did so privately. When dealing with conflict, I always try to be firm while also being respectful and considerate."
