Question 32 of 35

At Stryker, we believe in continuous feedback so we can all improve. When have you received constructive feedback?

"Early in my career out of college, I was very hesitant to speak up on a robust R&D team of seasoned professionals. I had several mentors have one-on-one conversations with me to help me boost my confidence and let me know that my education and limited experience would still be appreciated in the greater team effort. I found this feedback to be very inspiring and confidence building and didn't take anything that was said in a negative way. Throughout my career, I've come to realize that both giving and receiving feedback with my colleagues is important. My approach that I would bring to the Stryker team would to always be professional and respectful in the conversations."

  • 32. At Stryker, we believe in continuous feedback so we can all improve. When have you received constructive feedback?

      How to Answer

With Stryker's core values of integrity, performance, accountability, and people comes the fact that the company is consistently trying to improve and innovate in all that they do. Without this mindset, the organization wouldn't have been able to create life-altering products like its procedural oxygen mask and the LUCAS chest compression system. The company and its leaders are not hesitant to give constructive feedback to team members, so your interviewer needs to know that you have the right mindset to take feedback in a positive and productive manner. Think back to a time you were given direct feedback on improving your work, and come to your interview ready to discuss how you received the feedback and how it helped your work improve moving forward.

"I have been told in reviews that I don't delegate enough work out to my team and that I take on too much of the workload. With throrough introspection, I understood this to be true and learned quickly from the feedback and began delegating more lower risk tasks to my clinical team. This in turn lightened my workload so that I could focus on sales oriented tasks and also made my clinical team stronger also."

      Lauren's Feedback

Fantastic response. This is a tangible example that allows the interviewer to know your personality and work style. I made minor edits to round out your response. See below.
"Previous Performance Reviews expressed my lack of delegation to my team and my top-heavy workload. With thorough introspection, I agreed with this feedback, and expeditiously devised plans to delegate lower-risk tasks to my clinical team. In turn, this lightened my workload such that I was able to focus on sales-oriented tasks while making my clinical team stronger and more empowered. I welcome constructive feedback because we can all become stuck in a routine or system. Feedback allows me to take a step back, evaluate my processes, and enhance the situation."
