How to Answer: Do you prefer to work in a team based position or individually?
Advice and answer examples written specifically for a MedStar Health job interview.
15. Do you prefer to work in a team based position or individually?
Why the Interviewer Asks This Question
The interviewer wants to understand in which situation you are happiest and most productive. Talk to them about your preference for teamwork or working individually. Be sure to avoid pigeonholing yourself into one particular scenario (i.e., I only like to work on a team). You may work well without needing much management or direction, or perhaps you are better driven in a collaborative and team-led environment. Either way, be honest with the interviewer about your preferences without leaning negatively, either way.

Focus Your Answer On
Working as a healthcare professional requires independence and teamwork. Describe how you excel at both, leaning slightly toward your preference and why. It is best to focus on being flexible in your response and not adamantly saying you prefer one over the other.
