On-demand video interviewing presents prerecorded or pre-set questions, similar to the questions one might be asked during a traditional interview. You will be given a timeframe to record your video response to the questions. Every candidate is given the same interview experience and will be asked the same set of questions in precisely the same way, in a fair and unbiased setting. Candidates take part in the process in their own time.
HireVue's behavioral interview questions typically follow a uniform situational judgment structure, such as, "Tell me about a time when you faced this situation. What were the steps you took? What was the impact of your decision?" A structured interview process provides a way to obtain information about skills (for example, communication, influencing, and networking skills) that are best explored via discussion. "This will help identify individuals who can contribute to BP's success. Structured interviewing focuses on how you have applied your skills and experiences to particular work situations. The interview questions are designed to elicit information about behaviours that are linked to the essential functions of the role for which you are applying and are necessary to perform the role successfully."

This question is aimed at evaluating how well you are able to shift priorities without losing productivity or being governed by stress. How you answer will help them determine how aligned you are with their culture and how well you fit the profile of the types of teams they hope to build. HireVue defines adaptability as "the ability to shift or change opinions, actions, or behaviors when faced with multiple demands, shifting priorities, rapid change, or ambiguity." BP states, "Gathering detailed information about these skills generally helps identify candidates who are more likely to be high performers."

"I was immersed in a major client project with a tight deadline when several team members were called away to start another project that was behind schedule and had an even tighter deadline. One colleague fell ill and went on leave, leaving that unfinished work that wasn't up to standard, so we had to start it over, and the material was something we were totally unfamiliar with. We quickly dedicated time to researching different aspects of the project and held a meeting at the end of the day to share what we'd learned. We then divided the work accordingly, committed to being flexible, and collaborated until we met the deadline ahead of schedule. We learned a lot as a team. I then returned to my original project with renewed urgency and met that deadline as well, without sacrificing quality."
