By definition, a leader can lead others, have authority, and make people work together towards a common goal. The interviewer wants to know if you consider yourself a leader and what it takes to lead others as a branch manager. Whether or not you have officially held leadership roles, you may possess leadership qualities. Be honest in your response and share if you possess the following common attributes of a leader:
