Typically asked as one of the last touchpoints in an interview, how you answer this question stands to inform your interviewer of how thoroughly you've prepared, and, potentially, how well you might perform in the role. Not only is asking questions a sign of strong leadership potential, but asking questions holds the benefit of improved problem-solving and decision-making, stronger communication, collaboration, and accountability, and is a sign of reliably being a trusted resource of information.

Vanguard's recruiters offer some additional advice on how to prepare for your interview and how to end it on a strong note. "Research the company and the industry. Anticipate what the interviewer may ask. Have questions ready for the interviewer. Asking questions will demonstrate your interest in the role, so always have a few in mind. Our recruiters love these questions: What's a typical day like in this role? What's the career trajectory? How does Vanguard measure success in this role? Which strengths are needed for the role? Why do you choose to stay at Vanguard?"
"Once up to speed, what does a typical day on the job look like in this position? What part of the job do you most look forward to? How well received will the person who is hired into this position be?"
The more you research any topic, you'll generate more questions the more you learn. The key here is to write down every question that pops into your mind and to make every attempt to answer each question on your own. Once you have exhausted your efforts, save your remaining questions for your interview. But make sure you save several questions for the end. Many of your questions will naturally be answered on their own throughout the interview, and many before you even have a chance to ask them. So come up with several original questions to ask at the end. Doing so will make you a more memorable candidate when it matters most.
