Your interviewer needs to ensure you would be able to build relationships and collaborate with their clients, teams, and leaders, regardless of an individual's culture, race, gender, background, record, political affiliation, medical condition, or walk of life. They'll study your verbal and nonverbal cues for any discomfort or bias while evaluating the messaging of your answer.

"At Vanguard, we champion the abilities and ambitions of our crew throughout their careers. The diversity of our crew is a reflection of our clients. It represents a changing global marketplace. When different perspectives are shared, we have even more opportunities to innovate and step forward for our investors everywhere. With the support of their teammates and our Crew Resource Groups we are focusing on enriching the experiences of Women, Black, Asian, Hispanic/Latino, and LGBTQ professionals, as well as our service-minded military veterans, those with visible and invisible disabilities or conditions including our neurodiverse crew, and those serving in caretaker roles. Every moment counts. Every idea counts. And every voice counts."

"Truthfully, I don't think I'd feel comfortable working in an environment lacking diversity. I can't imagine there would be much of a talent pool there, and less of an opportunity to learn, develop, and grow in an environment where everyone pretty much thinks the same. The fact is, I have only ever worked in diverse, equitable, and inclusive environments, and would only consider working for a company which promoted a DEI positive environment."
