Question 34 of 40

The holiday season can be a stressful time for employees. How do you manage stress among your team?

"I make sure that the schedule is correct and that we have an appropriate number of employees working each day. If we're shorthanded, I'm not afraid to jump in and support the team. I make sure everyone understands their responsibilities and encourage them to speak up if they feel stressed or overwhelmed. During shifts, I make sure everyone takes their breaks and eats their meals. If someone feels stressed in a certain area, I work to see if we can swap a team member out, perhaps from working the sales floor to the cash register for a little bit."

      2nd Answer Example

"I regularly check workloads and assignments to ensure team members aren't overwhelmed or burdened. I meet with each team member weekly in a one-on-one setting to look for signs of stress, burnout, or negativity and address them immediately. I ask them what's going well and what's not and make adjustments based on that feedback. I also try to lead with empathy and patience, knowing there are times when someone is ill or has a family situation. I try to have a backup schedule if someone calls out so we have full coverage, thus reducing the burden on the other team members.
