Your interviewer is curious about what you learned from one of your mistakes, which could offer insights into your emotional intelligence. Someone who makes mistakes and does everything they can to avoid repeating them is generally considered a successful person. Take advantage of this opportunity to share an experience of a setback, mistake, or failure, and demonstrate what you learned from that experience and what you would do differently today.

"At my last job, I was proud to be hired but was overconfident in my abilities. I came on board anxious to contribute and wanted to fix everything. Yet, what I was trying to fix wasn't broken, and my approach was seen as aggressive and presumptuous. This rubbed a couple of my new team members the wrong way and made a bad first impression. I never had the best working relationship with one of these people. I've learned since to be transparent with them, asking questions and learning the lay of the land. If I could go back, I would take the approach I learned from that experience."
