"In my current position, I coordinate and manage the Teaching Gardens which involves coordinating with several departments, creating cropping plans, communicating with parents, mentoring summer students, and writing and leading programs. When I stepped into the role enrollment was very low, and the program was suffering. I evaluated the type of programming that was occurring changing it to be more garden-centric and youth-led as opposed to instructor-led. I changed the marketing of the program to reflect this, reaching out to local schools and community groups to increase advertising and by the next season enrollment carried over by 95%, we were able to expand programming to occur year-round. I've introduced two new programs, which consistently see high return rates, and reach maximum enrollments, I have created a new volunteer scheme to assist with garden maintenance, and the coordination of all vegetable harvests across 3 garden sites to donate to the local food banks."
