The best way to discuss your salary expectations is to use your current earnings as an example. Be open, and honest. Transparency is the best choice when salary based questions arise.

Stephanie's Feedback
While many employers ask about your salary expectations as part of an initial screening interview, I always suggest waiting until much later in the interview process before sharing an exact number. You could say, "I'm hoping for a market-rate salary in line with my skills and experience," or turn the question back to them, "Are you able to share a range for this position?" If they require you to answer the question, I suggest providing a range, rather than an actual number.
