I do not doubt that there may be more of an emotional toll and a bit more heartbreak, but I am committed to all my students, regardless of their backgrounds or upbringing. Most schools are looking for assistant principals who are culturally responsive leaders. When working with historically marginalized populations, an assistant principal must possess cultural competence. It is incumbent on them to do all they can to remove barriers, increase access and inclusion, and build trusting relationships with their teachers, students, and parents.
