One of the most common interview questions for Aerospace Engineers, this question allows your interviewer to get insight into your motivation and drive outside of work by peeking in to a personal project you have undertaken. If you are asked this question in the interview, your interviewer is a believer that an engineer that experiments on their own time is more apt to be a harder worker on the job. As you prepare for this question prior to your interview, be sure to think about a project that outlines your personal motivation to make you a better engineer overall.

"A current colleague of mine really got me into creating my own flight simulation program using MATLAB. I've always been very fascinated with the navigation and controls side of flight and this project has been a blast to help my teenage daughter become interested as well. We spent a couple of Saturdays with my colleague learning the ropes of creating flight simulation and now we are off and experimenting on our own and loving it."
