When working as a veterinarian, you will face various sights and experience numerous scenarios that might make a person feel queasy. The Admissions & Recruitment team at OSU College of Veterinary Medicine want to know that you can handle these sights and experiences.
Keep your answer straightforward by discussing your ability to handle events involving blood and other bodily fluids. If you have encountered a relevant situation like this, consider telling a brief story that provides evidence of your ability to manage challenging scenarios. If you tell a story, consider forming it using the STAR framework. STAR is an acronym for Situation, Task, Action, Result.

"Blood and other fluids have never bothered me, and this has been confirmed by my experience working at an animal clinic where I have dealt with many situations involving both. I have assisted doctors during surgery, been around gland expressions, and observed several necropsies. None of which bothered me. Mentally, I don't think about the potential queasiness. Rather, I focus on the fact that this is a helpless animal who needs my assistance. I believe this approach will get me through any situation as a veterinarian."
