Think back to the early contributors to the field of veterinary medicine. Who has a story that resonates with you the most? What did they overcome, and how can you relate to their approach to research or animal treatment and care? Think about what this person discovered, created, or invented and why you admire their work.
It's also a great idea to think of an interesting question you would have for that individual if you ever had the chance to speak with them. Respond with genuine passion, showing the admissions team that you have a genuine interest in the history of veterinary medicine.

"If I could go back in time, I would choose to meet Dr. Fredrick Douglas Patterson. He is an excellent role model that has illustrated his ability to overcome adversity. As an African-American veterinarian, when bigotry and discrimination prevailed, Dr. Patterson continued to advance the veterinary industry through his scholarship, leadership, and character. He has many notable contributions, including receiving the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 1987. It would be an honor to speak with him."
