"Without a reliable connection between a company's customer data and its email marketing platform, customer emails would be significantly less impactful. However, it is important to understand that it is important that there is a two-way connection between a company's databases and the platform as data should be fed back into a database storing data such as open rates and click-through rates. I have experience working with database connections in both situations, ensuring data is correctly transferred and stored in databases. My experience includes troubleshooting issues that lead to incorrect personalization of emails and corrupt data being transferred back to the company."

"I have experience managing the launch of Hubspot Marketing at the last company for which I worked. The Marketing team in our company had chosen to use this Marketing Automation platform for the management of its marketing campaigns, and I was tasked with the technical implementation. Based on my observations, Hubspot Marketing helped the Marketing team plan for and launch integrated campaigns in an organized and efficient manner, allowing for customized messages based on the target population. The interface also makes it user-friendly allowing new users to be trained quickly. Based on my knowledge and experience of these types of platforms, there seem to be opportunities to develop the analytical and AI capabilities to help marketers make smarter decisions."

"Although I have not worked directly with Marketing Automation platforms or tools from a technical perspective, I am aware of some of the major players in the industry. Marketo has become a successful competitor, offering a tool that is user friendly and covers all of a marketer's digital marketing needs at different stages of the customer relationship development process. My technical background tells me that Marketo offers a platform that is easily integratable into most companies' systems as it works with Salesforce, Microsoft Dynamics, among many others. User friendliness and the expansion of digital marketing capabilities seem to be two areas that Marketing Automation companies are continually expanding on. I believe that analytics and tracking of marketing campaigns needs continual improvement and is an area that SendGrid could concentrate its product efforts on."

I believe my experience in the industry coupled with my programming skills will be helpful in identifying and developing future products offered by SendGrid. My Java and Ruby on Rails programming skills will be helpful in the development of new applications. In addition, my project management skills will also be useful as a product is taken from development to market release. A data integration and analysis tool for social media platforms will be helpful as more and more companies look to make informed data driven marketing decisions."

Although this was not specifically a developer role, I learned a great deal about the needs of a digital marketer, and I believe, with the combination of this knowledge and my technical skills, I can make major contributions to SendGrid's marketing tools."

"Although I do not have direct experience working with a digital marketing team, I have an in-depth understanding of how digital campaigns are planned and executed. This knowledge is based on my experience as a customer receiving digital marketing pieces as well as research I have conducted. Any other updates I may have missed I learn about through industry news feeds I subscribe to. Once I learn about them through online resources, I visit the platforms to test out the new features. In doing so, I try to view it from a personal and business perspective to better understand how the changes affect different types of users. Any overall industry updates I learn about through online forums that I check regularly. I have a great interest in the social media industry, and therefore am proactive about remaining informed about technological advances in tools and platforms. My knowledge will be an asset to the product development process at SendGrid, Inc.."

Because I am a frequent user, I am able to learn from my social media connections about new platform features and capabilities. In addition, I subscribe to many online social media newsletters that share upcoming trends in the industry and am diligent about setting aside time weekly to review the news. "Through my work experience with social media marketing technology, I am familiar with SocialDrift and Grytics. SocialDrift is a third party app for Instagram that automates Instagram interactions using machine learning. This app increases engagement with Instagram users through likes, comments and follows, ultimately increasing a brand's exposure on this social media platform. Grytics is an app that gathers data on Facebook groups that help businesses make better decisions on messaging and targeting to these populations. The app consolidates this information so marketers do not have to spend the time reading every post."

"My app development work has given me the opportunity to learn about a few third party apps associated with social media platforms. The companies developing the apps understand the need to make these apps more efficient and effective for marketers. Yotpo is an app used with Instagram that allows it to aggregate all posts with pictures related to a certain brand or product. Once aggregated, the app takes care of contacting these Instagram users to see if their posts can be used through its company account. This app saves marketers time and money by conducting this task efficiently. TweetDeck is another app of value to marketers, particularly those using Twitter as it allows them to schedule, monitor and queue up tweets in one place. This save marketers time and allows them control over targeting and the timing of their messages."

Social media messaging allows marketers to more easily connect with their audience, because they are meeting them where they 'hang out'. This is particularly true with the younger population. It is important for SendGrid to offer tools that will allow its clients to easily create and deliver social media messages.

Any experience you may have working on these types of apps will be helpful in developing SendGrid's social media messaging tools, whether as a developer or in a different capacity. If you do not have direct experience working on social media messaging apps, talk about your personal social media messaging experience and additional knowledge you may have on the subject from a marketing perspective.

Which email marketing platforms have you worked with in the past and which is your favorite?

"Although I am aware of many of the email marketing platforms currently available, I have experience working with Drip and Constant Contact. Although Constant Contact is one of the most well-known platforms, I find that Drip offers more powerful intelligent tools that allow users to make more strategic communication decisions when it comes to segmentation and automation. "My experience with email marketing platforms has been primarily with Constant Contact, but I am familiar with several others including Drip, ConvertKit and MailChimp. I have enough knowledge with these tools to understand that each of them have their pro's and con's. For example, MailChimp has excellent support which may come in handy when dealing with the language they use which is less than straightforward. ConvertKit makes segmentation easy for users, but its automation workflow capabilities are limited compared to other platforms."

"As a developer, my work with corporate marketing departments gave me an understanding of different tools available to marketers to help them manage social media marketing efforts. There are platforms that help them track and manage their marketing on different social media channels in one place. A popular product in this category is Buffer - a tool which supported by many third party applications. Another type of tool is related to social media content management. Buzzsumo is an example of this type of tool as it, using data, helps determine worthy content topics and identifies the best social media channels to post the content on."

"Working in the marketing technology industry, I have been exposed to many different tools marketers use to manage their social media marketing. There are tools that help marketers create content including Canva which is a user friendly graphic design application allowing the quick creation of visuals for their social media channels. Other tools help with the scheduling of social media content. Edgar is an example of this type of tool as it allows marketers to schedule content on different channels and redistribute it at scheduled intervals to followers who may not have viewed it earlier."
