What You Need to Know
Being a competitive person can be a positive, depending on the context and the level of professionalism portrayed. This should always be balanced with one's sense of teamwork and collaboration, prioritizing the needs of the company and your teams above your own personal or professional goals or ambitions. Assure the interviewer that you have a competitive edge, when necessary, and are able to balance that competition in a healthy way, such as being competitive with yourself and your prior best.

"I love a great challenge in the workplace. I am not competitive to the point that it would work against my team or colleagues. I consider myself to be more internally competitive. If our team sets a goal or a deadline, I'll put my all in, and challenge others on our team to beat that goal or best their previous records, just as I do for myself. I have high expectations of myself and will always strive to do better than the day before."
