"I am so glad you pointed out your need for diversity at Grady Memorial Hospital Authority. I greatly value diversity. I grew up in a fairly homogeneous town in Montana. When I hit my 20's, it was so important to me to learn about other cultures. I worked with community volunteer organizations in Peru, inner-city Chicago, and Russia."

Most of my career in healthcare has been among diverse groups of people. I enjoy and value diversity in the workplace. I believe it brings differing perspectives and allows us all to learn and grow professionally and personally. For instance, as Americans, we are often taught to look people directly in the eye when we speak but I have learned that with some Asian cultures that is a sign of disrespect, this is valuable knowledge that I have been able to utilize over my career.

You are correct - understanding different cultures and traditions are highly valuable knowledge. It's also important to show the interviewer that you have researched the D&I efforts at Grady Memorial. If I found the correct 'Grady,' this is the mission statement from its website: 'Grady improves the health of the community by providing quality, comprehensive healthcare in a compassionate, culturally competent, ethical, and fiscally responsible manner. Grady maintains its commitment to the underserved...' I recommend giving an example of how you plan to fit in with this mission statement and the existing culture/ecosystem at Grady Memorial. For instance, how will your approach to D&I match the mission of Grady?
