Developing and creating new drugs often requires animal and plant life studies, and Gilead Sciences is no stranger to any of these. If you are interviewing for a position that involves the direct study of new therapeutics in human, animal, or plant life, your interviewer will want to know your preferences and thoughts on these studies.

"As a new graduate, I hope to work directly with clinical trials on humans. However, I understand the role of animal studies in the development of new drugs. It's great to see that Gilead Sciences is committed to replacing the use of animals when other methods are available and reducing the number of animals that are subjected to testing to get measurable results. It shows that you care."

"I can honestly say that I do not have a preference as I've worked in laboratory settings involving animal studies for a large portion of my career, along with being a part of drug development for human trials and going to market. Both play an integral part in the treatment of life-threatening diseases. Safety is my top priority, and it's evident that Gilead Sciences also prioritizes safety."

As you answer this question, avoid leaving a bad impression on your interviewer. Openly discuss how you have read and respect Gilead's animal use and welfare policy and would be proud to uphold it in any capacity while employed there. Then, talk about your preferences, and be sure to include details of the job you are interviewing for.

I have extensive experience with studies related to humans. As a clinical pharmacologist, I also enjoyed working as a team member of preclinical studies/projects (rats, etc.). Translational medicine always inspired me, and I found very interesting all animal trials, especially toxicology studies.
