"When my manager went on unexpected medical leave for three months last year I was asked to step into her position in the interim. I knew the basics but was certainly not trained on the specifics of the role. I was able to take it on successfully by leaning on my team, reading a lot of company manuals, and asking many questions. Once my manager returned she was very pleased with the progress that I made, and I received a promotion."

"At times, I will be asked to perform tasks in our computer system that I am not completely familiar with. When this happens, I will not ask for help right away. Rather, I will search for the answer either in our manuals or online. I am comfortable taking on new tasks and enjoy learning new skills."

I had to take a leadership role when my supervisor was called away for help with hurricane Sally and I had to fill her position without having proper training and being a new employee at the job. I was able to accomplish the majority of the required tasks and amaze my higher-ups with how fast I was able to gain experience and confidence in the position without much input from others.

Awesome! This is a strong example to use for this question. How new were you to the job? What kinds of tasks were you able to accomplish? Can you give more specifics about what the higher-ups said and how they praised you? The more details you can provide, the better!
Prepare for behavioral and clinical scenarios that rehabilitation interviewers prioritize.
