This question is a skill-testing question not because the interviewer needs you to give a perfect answer, but because they want to see how you go about solving problems. It is easy to say you are mathematically minded by nature, but it's another to 'show your work.' "I have read that Dropbox has over 500 million users, which I believe 30% are based in the United States. Of those, approximately 12 million are paying customers. So, by my research and calculations, I would guesstimate that there are 150 million users in the USA and about 3-4 million paid accounts."

"I have been researching Dropbox and understand that you have 12 million paying customers worldwide. I am guessing that 4 in every 10 people have used Dropbox before, but there are far more users periodically using the free account option. I guess that one in 40 people pay for a full Dropbox account. With all that, I estimate that Dropbox has 100 million users in the USA and about 2.5 million of those pay for a premium account."
