- Admit when they do not have an answer
- Value research and exploration

Being a good problem solver requires you to be calm under pressure, finding out what the problem is, and then assessing from there. You need to be adaptable, open-minded, and willing to learn from our mistakes.

This is all very true! I recommend adding a qualifying statement at the end, expressing the fact that you use this problem-solving methodology with success.

My best skill for problem solving is that I'm very fact focused and able to step back and see the big picture but then focus back in on the single task at hand causing the problem. I would say my ability to stay calm and focused on facts and not emotions or stress allows me to make efficient and good decisions.

These are exceptional qualities to possess, and any hiring company should be happy to have a team member on board who is focused and emotionally intelligent. If you have an example of your abilities in action, this question presents a great opportunity to provide a brief story of 'a time when.' You could also add a couple of sentences discussing these skills and exactly how they will help you to succeed in this particular role with CN Rail.
