Rachelle's Answer #1
"I've researched Avalon Technology, and I'm very attracted to what I see. The company is a true innovator within the technology industry and has made a name for itself by following the simple premise on which it was founded: that IT professionals who have worked on both the data center and consulting side are better equipped to understand different IT environments and the optimal product configurations that work best in each. This approach, combined with Avalon's refreshing, customer-centric approach, makes Avalon a very exciting potential employer for me."
Michelle's Answer #2
"Everything Avalon Technology stands for speaks directly to my own personal mission and values. This company was built on the idea of assembling a team of experts with deep, rather than broad, expertise within their respective areas. This team can now use that tremendous knowledge, expertise and experience to problem-solve and provide unparalleled service to customers that returns value through simplicity and technological superiority. From a business standpoint, I love that Avalon is committed to the client's success as the company's one and only true benchmark, and I would be very excited to become part of this culture."

3.
We put great effort into being the best in the rapidly changing telecommunications industry. In your opinion, what can Avalon Technology Inc. do to remain competitive?
Be sure to keep your reply upbeat, non-critical, and finish with a positive remark. The interviewer is looking for some light insight from you - this is a great chance to show what you've learned through your research of the company.

Rachelle's Answer #1
"I think you're exactly right; the telecommunications industry changes at almost the speed of light! One thing that Avalon has done really well, though, is to hire for depth rather than breadth of expertise when it comes to its engineering positions. That allows you to draw on the knowledge and experience of true experts across a variety of functions in order to innovate, forecast what's coming and set the company up for success. Combine that with a passionate and purpose-driven leadership culture, and I believe Avalon is positioned for continued accomplishment within the telecommunications field."
Michelle's Answer #2
"This is an important question - while Avalon Technology enjoys tremendous success and recognition in the telecommunications industry, it's important to keep striving for improvement and to better meet customer needs. One of the most important things Avalon can do along these lines is to keep engaging its customers - survey them, talk to them, engage them in brand ambassadorship so that those who are close to and love your brand can have a direct line to let you know what they need next. The customer-centered approach Avalon Technology is centered on can provide tremendous opportunity for this type of engagement."
4.
Tell me about your experiences giving presentations in front of large groups.
Public speaking can be intimidating, so assure the interviewer that you are capable of communicating well in front of large groups. Have you taken any courses or training in public speaking? Perhaps you have so much experience that it comes second nature. Assure the interviewer that you are capable of giving presentations should it be required in your role with Avalon Technology.

Rachelle's Answer #1
"Considering the importance Avalon Technology places on its refreshing, customer-friendly approach to projects of all sizes, the ability to present and garner support from a variety of groups will be imperative for success. In my last two roles I have been responsible for regularly presenting to my team of 43 staff as well as to our entire warehouse team of more than 200. I have also been part of my local Toastmasters group, which helped a great deal. Overall, I feel that I am a confident public speaker, and I would be proud to present on behalf of Avalon."
Michelle's Answer #2
"I do not have a lot of experience in presenting to large groups, but I do present regularly to groups averaging around 4 to 6 people. I am a confident speaker in that setting and am sure that I could present in front of many people - I'd be happy to take on that challenge on behalf of helping Avalon Technology solve unique IT business challenges on behalf of its clients. In alignment with Avalon's brand and culture, I would strive to be authentic, approachable and highly responsive in all presentations."
5.
Tell me about a time when you improved communication between yourself and a co-worker or client.
Possessing the skills to improve communication in the workplace is a very valuable asset. Talk to the interviewer about your ability to enhance communication in the workplace. Be sure to tie in how your skills will benefit Avalon Technology.

Rachelle's Answer #1
"I know that Avalon Technology is committed to crafting innovative solutions to clients' real-world problems, so I can see how strong communication skills are imperative. In my current position, I have one particular client who is a very brief communicator. If I ask two questions, he tends to answer only one. I learned quickly that he would not acknowledge anything for which he did not have a direct answer, so I began to ask him questions in a different way. For example, I would say 'Do you have an answer for me on question X?' and he would say yes or no. We would then go from there. This method was an effective form of communication for that particular client. I have a few approaches that will be useful when working for Avalon Technology."
Michelle's Answer #2
"Good communication is really important to me, and a skill that seems to get at the heart of Avalon Technology's mission of dedication to clients, respect for partners and continuous product and service innovation. I once had a client who often missed email updates. It caused us to cross our wires a few times. I suggested that we book a quick call every week to review any outstanding areas that need to be addressed, and I followed each call with a status report so that the conversation was documented. I believe this process would work nicely for Avalon as well."
