About Air Transport Services Group, Inc.
Air Transport Services Group (ATSG) is an American aviation holding company which provides air cargo transportation and related services to air carriers and other companies that outsource their air cargo lift requirements. ATSG subsidiaries include three cargo airlines with separate and distinct U.S. FAA Part 121 Air Carrier certificates. ATSG provides air cargo lift, aircraft leasing, aircraft maintenance services, airport ground services, fuel management, specialized transportation management, and air charter brokerage services.
Air Transport Services Group, Inc. announced on Dec 9, 2013 that it agreed to acquire a 25 percent equity interest in West Atlantic.
In 2014, ATSG?s subsidiary Air Transport International (ATI) was cited by the USDA for several violations of the Animal Welfare Act (AWA) during a December 2014 transport of monkeys destined for laboratories in the United States. According to federal inspectors, the airline failed to provide the animals with food and water for more than 24 hours and transported the animals in insecure crates. In July of 2014, ATI was cited for failing to provide food and water for monkeys for more than 32 hours and for transporting the animals in unsafe cages which left to one monkey bloodied with several cuts on his face. PETA has criticized the airlines calling the transport of monkeys to laboratories a ?bloody industry?.
