In the United States, the 911 system receives about 240 million calls per year. As a Police Dispatcher, you must be able to collaborate with a significant number of people in a day. Call volumes are high, and everyone on the other end of the call has their own unique story. Be sure to give specific examples and talk about your overall dispatch experience. Let the hiring manager know that you, in no way, discriminate on the job.

I used to work at a high-end interior design company and the people I would interact with on a daily basis were from very diverse backgrounds. Whether it was building rapport with our delivery drivers and sub-contractors, and providing customer service to a customer building their dream home, I always approach the situations the same. I am a personable person, and that allows me to interact with and help all people.

I worked at a long-term care facility in Northern Wisconsin for two years. This boys' ranch brought adjudicated youth from all across Wisconsin to its facility for treatment. Though there were diverse racial and socio-economic backgrounds among the youth admitted and among the staff that worked with them, they were all brought there to get help. As an employee, despite differences, I was hired to help and have always desired to do so to the best of my ability.
