The interviewer wants to know if you can handle job-related stress and how you manage it. You should prepare this answer in advance. Without preparation, you may not look like a suitable fit for the position. Interviewers ask this question to discover what to expect after they hire you. Very few jobs go 100% according to plan, and the company wants to hire someone who can stay calm and think clearly to get through the situation. Ideally, they want someone who's been "tested" in the past and experienced some work-related stress before.
"I find that being under stress motivates me to accomplish my tasks quickly and efficiently. I have always enjoyed working in an environment that challenges me. Stress motivates me to keep my focus and stay on top of the tasks at hand."

The best approach to this question is to demonstrate that you've encountered these types of situations in the past and aren't phased by them. Describe the steps you follow to calmly get through a challenge. It's best to have a proven process or plan in place. Employers love to hear that you have a system or a series of steps that you follow that works for you.

"I've found that stress at work often comes from having too many tasks to handle. The first thing I do is step back, examine my tasks, and prioritize. I can't do 10 things at once, but I can take time to identify which tasks are the highest priority and then take care of the most important things first. I've also found that communicating well with other team members is key. If I'm overwhelmed, I've learned to ask for help early in the process or clarify my priorities with my boss to make sure I'm working on the most essential things first. I think stressful situations pop up in any job, but if you stay calm and level-headed and keep your team members informed, the stress doesn't need to harm your productivity."
