Would you be willing to travel for work? For how long?

There are many oil and gas companies with locations all over the world, including the Middle East, parts of Africa, Europe, and the United States. Be sure to research the company locations before going to an interview to get an idea of where you might potentially be sent to work, even if it is temporary. Don't be afraid to ask questions to clarify the type of travel and time commitment that is required.

"Yes, I would travel for work. I would be very interested in working in the Middle East if given the opportunity. I want to gain industry knowledge and experience in such an oil-rich country. The longest I would want to stay abroad would be one year."

The interviewer wants to know if you are open to travel and/or enjoy traveling regularly (some people enjoy the travel component of their work) or travel-tolerant (not necessarily enjoying the travel, but understanding it is a part of the job). The interviewer may tell you how much travel is involved and ask this interview question to determine if this is acceptable.

"I have no limitations on my ability to travel for my work, and I have done extensive travel, including my semester abroad last year. Can you tell me more about the type and scope of travel that may be involved in this role?"
