"I'm not a stranger to the pressures of a busy clinical schedule. My first three years in practice involved a practice that was short-staffed. I learned how to stay organized and dictate patient notes efficiently and how communication was key to providing the best care possible. I attribute much of my ability to handle pressure-packed situations at work to taking care of myself outside of the clinic walls. I prioritize exercise, rest, and quality family time while away from the clinic, and they help me come to work each day relaxed, refreshed, and ready to take on any challenge."

I find the only way to handle a busy nephrology clinic is to be organized; review the patient's previous documentation and blood prior to the appointment, and spend the appointment time getting to know the patient so you know how to guide their care. Although this is busy and difficult at the start, I find it is the only way to know your patients well, so your next appointment with them doesn't require this preparation and is a lot more enjoyable.
