"I believe that to be a good fire inspector, you need to have many strengths. The top three would be to provide excellent customer service, have attention to detail, and have patience. As an inspector, customer service is key as we are in the public eye and are there to inform, inspect, and keep citizens safe. Attention to detail is important as inspectors are looking for obvious and hidden hazards. Inspectors need to have patience, since some property owners may not be happy they are there, and they need to be able to explain what their job is while diffusing the situation."

I believe I possess the skills that a fire inspector requires to keep the people and the community safe. Having performed more than 1300 Defensible space inspections and more than 700 Wildfire Mitigation evaluations there are skills I have acquired that qualify me for the position. I believe there are many skills that are required to be a good fire inspector. The top 3 in my opinion would be attention to detail, communication skills when dealing with the public, and leadership to both inform and enforce when faced with ensuring compliance. Understanding the validity and relevance of each, with the knowledge that the safety and well-being of people and buildings rely on the choices I make regarding fire safety.

This is a powerful answer that highlights both your level of experience and the strengths that make a good fire inspector. Using quantifiable numbers like "700 wildfire mitigation evaluations" also helps give your answer impact and show the interviewer that you have extensive experience. Consider further demonstrating why the skills you've chosen are important strengths by explaining that attention to detail can help prevent fires from occurring through thorough inspections, communication helps ensure the safety of firefighters and members of the community in the event of a fire, and strong leadership helps your team collaborate productively to prevent or extinguish fires that endanger people, homes, or community businesses.
