With almost 100 different airlines and their staff operating within the walls of Heathrow Airport, the employees of the airport are tasked with improving the overall operations for the safety and efficiency of all. If the role you are being considered for will be handling or managing large-scale projects, your interviewer will want to get a sense of how you handle projects. Since this question will allow them to gauge your ability to complete all aspects of a project, make sure to fully discuss the entire project life of the example you give. If you are a recent graduate, you can certainly discuss a project you completed during your studies as long as you can prove that it was demanding and it took all of your effort to complete.
"In my current job, I was tasked a couple of years ago with leading a route feasibility study to revamp the bus lines in the city for efficiency. The toughest part of this task was taking into consideration both the need for fuel savings and route efficiency for passengers. To account for all aspects, I pulled in experts from teams within the city to give some time and input. Without their help, the project just wouldn't have made sense. I led communications between teams and used expertise from others to come up with a great new routing plan that we put to the test during some down months. This project really taught me teamwork and communication skills that I can bring to this role at Heathrow Airport."
