"I tend to thrive under pressure because it forces me to really focus on what I'm doing, assess my priorities, and come up with a plan. Rather than quickly reacting, I try to stop and collect my thoughts, remain calm, and envision a positive outcome."

I deal with stressful situations everyday at work as a server lead. Stress helps me focus and problem solve. One time at work we had a power outage in the middle of our rush hour, our manager was panicking about the situation. I stepped up and communicated to her with my idea and we quickly figured out a way to solve the problem. I announced that idea to my coworkers from different departments ways to keep our guests informed and how we can process payments manually to our guests. Everyone remained calm and efficiently solve the problem. Stress helps me think out of the box and efficiently solve problems. And it's a new learning experience every time I overcome it.

I am eager to apply this same approach to stress management in my role as a radiologic tech; whether it be with rush reporting, long hours, upset patients, or situations around being short staffed."
