August 17th, 2017

Data collection specialists collate data and create reports and presentations based on the data they have collected. These reports and presentations are given to data analysts who work on them to sort and aggregate the data and develop statistical models, which are used to make critical business decisions.

Part of your tasks as a data collection specialist will involve collecting relevant data from corporate databases and other appropriate sources, cleaning the data to remove unwanted values, creating reports and presentations based on the data collected. You will need to have completed high school to apply for a job as a data collector. More importantly, you must have some experience in this field. Without experience, you will be limited to taking on an entry-level job.

At your interview for a data collection job, your interviewer will want to know about your work experience. They may also give you a mock client requirement and ask you to explain how you would go about collecting the necessary data. They will also want to know how you will put your findings together into a report or presentation. The interviewing panel will also ask you about your career goals and why you chose this career path.
