Question 3 of 20
Do you prefer working independently or collaboratively?
Professional Answers Preview
"I pride myself on my team playing skills as I sincerely enjoy working with others toward a common goal. However, I prefer working independently as it is easier for me to allocate my time and resources."
Ensure to review the job posting before the interview to familiarize yourself with the work involved. At the time of the interview, you should know whether this position mostly entails independent or collaborative work. As such, should the position entails independent work, you should answer this question by saying you prefer independent work. Should the position entails collaborative work, you should answer this question by saying you prefer collaborative work. Should you not answer adequately as per the duties involved, you may be automatically disqualified - for instance, if you answer you prefer collaborative work and dislike independent work when applying for a position that mostly entails independent duties. Not only will this show you are unsuitable for this position as you did not do your due diligence beforehand (as you did not read the job posting before applying for the position (nor before the interview)), but the interviewer may also believe you are simply looking for any job without being serious about working for this company particularly.

About Data Collection

August 17th, 2017

Data collection specialists collate data and create reports and presentations based on the data they have collected. These reports and presentations are given to data analysts who work on them to sort and aggregate the data and develop statistical models, which are used to make critical business decisions.

Part of your tasks as a data collection specialist will involve collecting relevant data from corporate databases and other appropriate sources, cleaning the data to remove unwanted values, creating reports and presentations based on the data collected. You will need to have completed high school to apply for a job as a data collector. More importantly, you must have some experience in this field. Without experience, you will be limited to taking on an entry-level job.

At your interview for a data collection job, your interviewer will want to know about your work experience. They may also give you a mock client requirement and ask you to explain how you would go about collecting the necessary data. They will also want to know how you will put your findings together into a report or presentation. The interviewing panel will also ask you about your career goals and why you chose this career path. Go through data collection mock interview questions to take a look at questions most commonly asked.
