Question 3 of 35

We want to hire motivated and effective leaders at Micron Technology. What do you find to be the most difficult aspect of leading your current team?

"One challenge that I have faced over the last few years is employees that show continued disinterest in our company's education opportunities. My current company has an amazing program available for continued education, yet only about 10% of our employees take advantage. One thing I've implemented is a department-wide recognition program for all employees who explore this option with our company and it has gone over very well as more and more are taking advantage of opportunities."

      How to Answer

No matter who they are, every leader has an aspect that is challenging for them. Share your most challenging aspect of leadership, but also make sure to highlight the steps that you take to alleviate or overcome that challenge. For example, one common challenge for leaders is the need to terminate an employee or implement a performance improvement plan. Another problem could be continually motivating unengaged employees. Be sure to speak honestly here, as your interviewer knows that any future leader at Micron Technology will come with their own set of weaknesses and they'll respect your transparency here.

"In my years in supervision, managing underperformers is always a difficult task. While I don't feel that I struggle with it, having difficult conversations is never easy.
