Working as a veterinarian requires consistent learning and development to remain abreast with current and future legislation and laws, as well as changes to processes and treatments. The interviewer is asking this question to ensure you are aware of the need for self-development, and the various methods of learning you will need to undertake to remain professional.

"I am aware that even when I am qualified the learning and development within my role will not stop. I understand that I will have to continue to study and follow updates to legislation and law, and see this as a positive thing as I will be continuing to gain new skills and knowledge."

I will attend any lectures or meetings discussing new studies found. I will research conditions and cases I have seen and want to learn more about. I will use books, journals, scientific reports and studies to enhance my knowledge. I would love to learn more about disease prevention and vet's role I'm ensuring food safety.

Rachelle's Feedback
Your edits are good - these specifics are always helpful for an interviewer trying to get to know you. You have an excellent plan in place for continued learning and enhancement!
Anonymous Answer
Continue education courses and certification, reading scientific journals, attending conferences and seminars, be part of veterinarian groups.

Rachelle's Feedback
These are all excellent ways to enhance your knowledge along the way. If you can be more specific on the courses/certs/journals etc. that you would enjoy, the more detail you can offer, the better.

I will stay knowledgeable as a veterinarian through readings of veterinary publications and keeping up on current events. I will also gain knowledge from other vets who have worked in the field longer than me. I may also look into becoming certified in a specialized area.

Rachelle's Feedback
Good start! When it comes to becoming certified in a specific specialty, do you have a plan in mind?
Anonymous Answer
I will make sure I am subscribed to current veterinary magazines and that I am continuing to read relevant journals. I will also try to attend conferences and always inform my team of any innovations within the field regarding medications and treatments. The final thing I would do is keep up to date with my CPD, which I know is a requirement of the RCVS as it's important to know that as a vet, even after graduating, you will constantly be learning new things and being faced with new challenges.

Rachelle's Feedback
Fantastic response! You provide a lot of detail, which will show the interviewer that you have put a good amount of thought into how you will remain knowledgeable after graduation. If there are any conferences in specific that interest you, consider adding in this detail.
