QUESTION 54 OF 54

Why should we admit you to our veterinary school over other well-qualified candidates?

Competition is very high for veterinary schools. In the United States alone, thousands of applicants apply for around 2,700 annual spots in the 30 schools around the country. Chances are high that your interview panel is facing a very tough decision on who to admit to their program based on a very skilled and competent applicant pool. They give you the chance here to give your final pitch on yourself and why you should be admitted to their program. To best answer, put yourself in the shoes of your interviewer. Vet schools want to admit students with passion and who will bring a future successful reputation to their program. As you answer, make sure to speak from the heart as you explain why their program is the right one for you.

"After careful consideration of all of the great veterinary schools in the country, your program jumps to the top of my list in every category. Studying here for the next four years will keep me close to friends, family, and my support system, which is very important to me. On top of that, your program is one of the most reputable when it comes to dairy production medicine and that is a future I definitely see myself working in. Outside of me seeing this as a perfect fit for myself, I truly feel that I will be able to help live your principles of a welcoming and inclusive community, compassion, high ethical standards, and professionalism in all that I do. My references can all attest to my focus and dedication to academics with an innate passion for the animal sciences."
