The interviewer is curious about your leadership potential and whether working up to a leadership position is part of your career plan. If it isn't, that's fine. However, your basic leadership skills will make you a more desirable candidate. Some leadership skills may seem less obvious but still hold value when answering this question, such as being self-guided in your work, having excellent project management skills, communication skills, time management skills, a high EQ, holding yourself accountable for your actions, taking ownership, and displaying a willingness to coach or mentor others on your teams.
