Tell us about yourself.

"I come from a little town called Valley City, ND. As soon as I started touring colleges, I toured campuses out of state. I wanted to get off on a fresh start when I launched my career. I come from a long line of self-starters. My great-grandparents were pioneers from Norway who pursued the American dream. There is opportunity in this country, but pursuing it isn't easy. It takes determination, turning failure into success, and finding a way to walk around walls rather than climb them. My determination is my passion. I'm passionate about setting goals and accomplishing them."

  • 2. Tell us about yourself.

      The Goal

Before the interview, compose a capsule bio. This typically consists of about 200 words and is a brief description of your life and career journey relevant to the position. Include personal information such as where you were raised, how your parents or mentors influenced you through your upbringing, any educational and professional achievements, and why you are here today. Rehearse it, ensuring you come across as relaxed, interesting, and relatable.

      What You Need to Know

This question is used as an icebreaker to get you out of interview mode. Asking a more informal question will more likely result in a sincere answer. The algorithm will use such questions to establish when you are being true to yourself. It will contrast what it may perceive as your genuine personality against your more reserved and performative answers.

"Firstly, I was born in York, Pennsylvania in an upper-middle-class household. My mother came from a line of successful business owners, while my father is a 2nd generation immigrant who worked all his life to become extremely successful via a blue-collar line of work. It was in seeing these two different perspectives that I gained the work ethic from my father and the "book smarts" from my mother."

Interesting! Your answer is a great start but make sure to continue by talking about all the experience, skills, qualities, and education you bring to the table outside of your work ethic and book smarts. You undoubtedly have a lot more to offer the company. Don't be bashful; talk about it! Nice job!
