Jeff Bezos, the founder of Blue Origin, was quoted as equating accomplishment to making the impossible possible. He said, "The idea of going to the moon was so impossible that people actually used it as a metaphor for impossibility. What I would hope you would take away from that is that anything you set your mind to, you can do." He then quotes the pioneering rocket scientist, Wernher von Braun, who after the moon landing, said, "'I have learned to use the word 'impossible' with great caution.' And I hope you guys take that attitude about your lives."

"One achievement I am proud of is graduating from University as an honors student while working full time. My thesis made that possible. Nearly every peer and professor said my approach couldn't be done, especially within the timeframe allotted. Yet I received a perfect score for my thesis and a standing ovation. This accomplishment showed me that I could dedicate myself to my career and reach the goals I set for myself, even when others said it couldn't be done. It felt great to accomplish so much and earn recognition for my dedication."

It is obviously of value to research any company you are interested in pursuing an opportunity. However, it is just as important to research yourself, your professional experience, your setbacks, and your accomplishments, and consider every qualifying and transferable skill you can think of which could lend to your credibility. The idea is to align what you have to offer with what they are looking for in a candidate.
