How to Answer
This open-ended question can throw off some interviewees, but you can avoid this by having an answer prepared in advance. You can structure your answer using the "Past, Present, Future" framework to avoid rambling or excess information. Tell the interviewer about your experience to this point, where you are and what you are doing now, and the career goals that you would like to accomplish.

"During college, I worked as a sales associate in a home goods store. Last year, I was made a team leader, and I now supervise a team of five associates. I enjoy working in retail, but I'd like to work more closely with customers, helping them decide on the layout for their homes and recommending products and services. Pottery Barn has a great reputation for one-on-one design meetings and customized services, and I'd love to be a part of that."
