Tell me about yourself.

"During college, I worked as a sales associate in a home goods store. Last year, I was made a team leader, and I now supervise a team of five associates. I enjoy working in retail, but I'd like to work more closely with customers, helping them decide on the layout for their homes and recommending products and services. How to Answer

This open-ended question can throw off some interviewees, but you can avoid this by having an answer prepared in advance. You can structure your answer using the "Past, Present, Future" framework to avoid rambling or excess information. Tell the interviewer about your experience to this point, where you are and what you are doing now, and the career goals that you would like to accomplish.

      2nd Answer Example

"After I graduated with my Associate's degree in interior design, I worked as a freelance interior designer for three years. I enjoyed the flexibility, but I found it to be too unstructured. Two years ago, I started working as a sales associate at a retail furniture store, where I am now. I enjoy the stability, but I'd like to return to a design-focused career. Pottery Barn has such great products, and I would love to join your team and help your customers find the right pieces for their homes."
