Question 2 of 35

Describe an emergency situation you have experienced with a patient.

"I have experienced many emergencies during my career. The most recent that comes to mind is when I was seeing a patient during my hospital rounds last week. She had a hip replacement the day before, which was a success, and was recovering nicely. I was just getting ready to leave her room when all of a sudden, she went into cardiac arrest. I immediately pushed the call button for the nurse and started administering CPR. The nurse called a code, and a team came with the crash cart. Fortunately, they were able to get pulses back, but she went into cardiac arrest again later that day and passed away. It was determined she had an underlying heart condition that had never been diagnosed."
