      A potential employer will often base their offer on your current salary. You should be transparent about your most recent earnings and be prepared to back up any salary requests.

Usually, I suggest providing a range without your target hiring bracket, rather than an exact salary, if pushed for a number. For example: "I am seeking compensation that is aligned with the requirements of the role and provides an opportunity for growth; currently, my target salary range is $55,000-65,000. Are you able to share if this is within the range for this position?
