"There are so many healthcare issues that I am passionate about, but if I could choose one, I wish that the general public were more aware of the signs and dangers of undiagnosed childhood diabetes."

"This is a very tough question as there are so many underfunded, and worthy, healthcare issues. I am going to go with one of my biggest areas of interest and research. If I could increase public awareness on any healthcare related issue, I would choose pancreatic cancer. Yes, cancer does receive a lot of awareness; however, pancreatic cancer does not. This year, over 53,000 people in the USA will be diagnosed with pancreatic cancer nearly 80% will die from the disease - both men and women."

As a nurse, I see a lot of complications due to poorly controlled diabetes mellitus. I think now that insulin costs are more prohibitive than ever we are going to see even more issues associated with this.

Great start! The interviewer is looking for your passion and motivation for being in the industry as well as where you would like to see an increase in public awareness. You provide a specific healthcare related issue you have first-hand experience treating and suggest a reason for why cases will rise. However, your interviewer may not feel you have fully answered the question, so now you need to convey your passion for people and healthcare and where you want to increase public awareness. You can accomplish this by using similar language as the interviewer.
My passion for helping people live in good health motivated me to become a nurse. People face a variety of health challenges, but something I see a lot of is complications due to poorly controlled diabetes mellitus. With insulin costs more prohibitive than ever, I think we are going to see even more patients facing these issues and needlessly suffering. I would like to increase public awareness of the importance of having affordable insulin available.
